The book #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amaruso tells the story about how Sophia managed to build a multi-million dollar business ‘Nasty Gal’´ before she was 30.

She was diagnosed with depression and Attention-Deficit Disorder when she was a teenager.

Until the age of 22 she lived a simple life with not much money. Sophia was looking for a job because she needed health insurance because of her diagnosis: she started for example checking ID´s in a school. In some instances she was directionless and got food by “dumpster diving and petty thievery”. However she started selling vintage clothing online on eBay at the age of 22,

This girl achieved her goals through courage, strength, trust, willingness to work hard. Her story shows that even if a goal seems impossible to achieve, you can still achieve it if you have the will to do it.

Therefore I would like to share some of my favourite quotes and insights with you:

a GIRLBOSS

  • takes control

  • accepts responsibility

  • breaks and follows rules at the same time

  • asks questions

  • takes herself not too seriously

  • knows her customer and treats them like friends

  • believes in what she is doing and tells a story

  • has no financial goals

  • cares about process not results
